Before discussing Indonesian Muslim responses, this paper will first discuss some works that have been written on Muslim responses to Western scholarship on the Qur‟an, where one of them is their usage of Biblical Approaches. Secondly, the paper will analyse historically how this Western scholarship was introduced to Indonesian Islam, and finally, how Indonesian Muslims responded to this new Western approach.
